Hi folks,

could you please spend a minute on my question?

Here is my problem:
A friend of mine wants to write a new mail (in OUTLOOK XP) using an address from his address book.
He opens a new mail.
Now one sees the address bar with the "to" button.
When I click this button the address book opens in a new window.
All the contacts in this window are sorted by the given name of the people who are enlisted.
What he wants is to have all the contacts in this window sorted by their surnames.

Please help me with that, my friend doesn't want any workarounds but just his contacts sorted by surname.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Hi Firegambler :)

Take sure your contacts are sortied by surname under "File As" in each contact.

Then right-click into a space in-between the contacts and click onto "sort".

At the bottom of the window is an option: "select available fields from:". Choose email fields.

Then in the "Sort items by" box at the top of the window, choose "File As". Click OK, and viola!

Hope that helps :)

Fine thanks, but unfortunately that does not exactli hit the core of my problem.

What I ment was the adress book that opens up when you choose to write a new mail and hit the 'to' button when editing the mail to chose a recipient.

In this new window the names are always sorted according to their given names, not after the surnames.
It is this window where I wanted them to be sorted ...
Know what I mean?

best regards

HI folks,

I just discussed the topic with a member of Microsoft's support team... "Can't be done!"

Not too satisfying but I guess I'll have to accept that.

Thanks anyways!
