When Outlook XP opens, closes or a send/recieve is requested, the machine slows down, explorer.exe runs at 99% CPU usage. This happens anytime you change the way that the machine is connected to the network... i.e. wireless->wired(embeded nic in laptop)->wired(nic on docking station)...

What is causing this? I have already changed the order of the network protocols in the registry. I found a FAQ somewhere with this suggestion.

Machine configuration:

Windows 2000 SP4, 1gb RAM, 1.2ghz CPU.

Outlook Configuration:

XP, Exchange Server Mailbox, 3 .pst files being opened that are rather large.

SoonerIra,
Is your .pst or your .pab located on you local machine and not pointed (mapped) to a share server?
Make sure the path to your .pst files are in your profile->

"C:drive"
Documents and Settings
'User Profile'
Local Settings
Application Data
Microsoft

I had similair symptoms with one of my users. The solution we found was disabling Instant messaging in Outlook. It is under the tools, option, then the other tab at the bottom. Hope this helps!

Thank you!!!!! I disable the Instant Messenger and it works much better now...
