I just upgraded my Outlook to XP from 2000. Since the upgrade my messages have not been showing up right away. I also have my email go to a Blackberry. When i get an email on my Blackberry I look in Outlook and the message is not there. If I close Outlook and open it again the Email is there. Anyone seen this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The speed may just be because starting with XP, Office had a lot more "pretty" features which tend to slow it down, especially if using the same hardware.

The reason your email is apparently showing up on the Blackberry, but not in Outlook until after you restart Outlook is apparently just because Outlook hadn't run a Send/Receive operation yet. If you want it to run more frequently, you can change the settings here:

Tools -> Options -> Mail Setup -> Send/Receive -> Change the value in "Schedule an automatic send/receive every __ minutes" to whatever time you want. I believe the default is 5. This is assuming you're not on an exchange server - in that case, it's pretty much instantaneous unless it's on a rather large network with various filters. Also, make sure the check box next to "Schedule an autoamatic send/receive every..." is checked.

We do have an exchange server. Even if I do a manual send/receive the mail does not show in my inbox. Last time I restarted Outlook mail showed up that was over an hour old.

And I'd assume that "Include this group in send/receive" is checked as well in the same location as the last option I mentioned... I'd check to be sure..

My other thought is that it could just have something to do with the Exchange server. If you are still on a 2000 Exchange server, and upgraded the client to XP, I'd have to think that there could be more of a slow-down there.

Of course, since it's on an Exchange server, you'd probably be best off having your tech support person/people look at it to see if there is any known issue on your particular network.

We have exchange 2003, and I do not have any problems on the other users that I upgraded, just this one. I am the tech support person and our exchange server has no errors or anything stuck in the queue.

Thank you for the replies so far, I appreciate the help.

You're welcome... just hoping can help in some way, even if it's just getting some electricity going so you can light a bulb. [wink]

Well, maybe.... maybe... it's a G-G-Ghost! [wink]

Actually, I do have one other thought - a way for trying to troubleshoot the situation...

Try having that user log in on a different computer, assuming that is possible on your network, and opening Outlook from there. Also, try having a different user log into Outlook under their profile on the same problem computer.

At least that should help narrow down whether it's a user profile issue, or something weird on that machine.

I can't help but think that it's a user profile issue, or else an issue because of possibly a third party application installed on that computer.

I logged into Outlook on my profile and my emails were coming right through. Today there is a different problem with the original user. The emails are still not coming through but if he clicks on another email new ones pop into the inbox. This keeps getting stranger and stranger.
