I have a user that has two Task folders in Outlook 97, Task (default) and Tasks 1. Lately, he is unable to add any tsks to the Task dfault list. An error stating "Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid."
SR-1 and SR-2 installed.
Once again, thanks in advance. If it ain't broken, play with it till it breaks.

I might have him make yet another task folder, put all his tasks in there from the default. Then try creating a task in the default again...

Did ya see this:
(By the way, it took me a long time to learn how to search the M$ knowledge base...)

Dreamboat,
Using MS Knowledge base myself, but must be doing something wrong. I have searched for a Q article you have referred me to in the past and not had the article display a "find".
Thanks again.

I know you've got that problem. I'm a team leader at work and recently got a new team member who had that problem. I was only able to help because I had the same problem. More important than technical knowledge is the ability to find stuff. Believe it or not, I typed in "parameter values" and the product was Outlook 97. I used to try using too much of an error message.

Make sure you've got Technet set to check the entire message (not just the title). I set it to look for All keywords and just keep the number of words I type in to a minimum. I've also found that if I've got an error in kernel32.dll or some other file name, typeing in the first part (kernel32) gives me a much better reply than typing in the whole file name.

Hope this helps. You keep asking, I'll try to keep answering!

Moram,

Can you please tell me how you fixed this error message.
i have a user having exact same error message, when trying to create/save task.

Thanks

We see this error a lot and here is how we fix it (this is assuming these are tasks folder listed in the clients Mailbox on the Exchange server).

1. Export the tasks to a .pst file.
2. Close Outlook
3. Execute the Exchng32.exe client to access the clients mailbox
4. Delete the Task folder
(you can only delete using the Exchange client GUI and not through Outlook)

5. Close the Exchng32 client
6. Click on START -RUN
7. Enter the command to open Outlook.exe but use
the /resetfolders switch.

It will look similar to this command:
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /resetfolders

This will rebuild the Task folder.
Once the folder is created import the task data back in to the folder. If the error starts up again then it is the task data that is causing the error. Rebuild the Task folder and client will have to manually reenter Task data.
