I have a client who is running SBS 4.5 server. And they have just added a XP machine to thier network.

I have put domain users under local admins group and all seems ok. Access to network is fine etc.

But yesterday every time they opened up Microsoft Outlook 2000 it pops up a window asking for there username, password and domain. When they type the correct details in its logs them on to Exchange.

I have had this before at a clients and after long investigatios i just found if i changed the password under User Manager it would let them logon to exchange with no problems.

The machine is a clone but when i had this problem before it was with a HP machine.

Any help would be great

Si

Hello Smorgan11, I get this problem now and again, it comes back to our account & password policy -
we use roaming profiles, and if for whatever reason the user logs on using a locally stored profile (due to network issues) and his password happens to have expired, when the network issues are resolved and the user tries to access email, the username, password and domain are prompted for.

So yes, you are in the right area - a reset, or a change of password resolves the problem.

thanks for the response i gave the user a new password but this didn't resolve the issue any other ideas would be cool

thanks again
