Several of our users who use cable modem internet connection to connect to our exchange server over VPN have problems. Our dial up users and DSL user have no problems, only our cable modem people.
They are all using different operating systems either Windows 98 or XP, some user Office 2000 and some Office XP, so it not related to this. The users who have this problem do not experience the difficulties when connected over dial up or indeed when connected to the network in the office.
The problems they get are Synchronisation problems, refusal to send emails and hangs in outlook when sending or receiving email. These users are currently using webmail without a problem, but would like the full functionality of Outlook.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem, only on our cable modem users, the only thing consistant is the ISP - who refuse to acknowledge a problem. What kind of traffic is being generated by Outlook, that maybe the ISP restricts. Can anyone help?
The VPN software that we use is Checkpoint Securemote V4.1. Could the VPN software have a problem with the ISP, but that's a whole other problem???
Thanks,
Jane
