Hey guys, I have a user who has about 10 project manager's inboxes in her outlook. When she opens it in the morning, outlook freezes. After 2-3 unsuccessful tries, she finally gets on. When I open it up after those 2-3 unsuccessful tries it'll open up fine every single time. I figured it would be because everyone is trying to access the inboxes in the morning at one time but that would mean the other secretaries should be lagging as well. However, shes the only one with the problem. Can't seem to figure it out. any ideas?

Do the users all have the same hardware? What is your switch speed? What is the NIC speed? Did you disable Auto Speed Negotiation on at least the workstation or switch?

How big are the mailboxes? Do the other secretaries access the SAME 10 mailboxes? What is the secretaries available hard disk space? Does she need a defrag?

if there has been email activity then her cached copy needs to update when opening email. That will take a while. With each successive restart it has to copy less cached info giving the impression that it is getting done faster. have you tried just letting outlook sit unresponsive without killing the connection?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
