Hey gang:

On some of my users systems when outlook is closing, it hangs on the "Please wait while Microsoft Outlook exists" screen. Does any one have a solution this, or know what causes this. I generally have to go and kill the process using Task Manager. We have Win 2000 and Outlook 2000.

Thanks

What Exchange server are you using?
If it is Exchange 2003 and the mail client is 2000, there is a known problem with this.
Microsoft have released a hotfix for the mail client, however the client must be updated to SP3 before the patch can be added. Please see the link below:

Not due to Exchange 2003 but Outlook 2003.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

You do not have to pay for hotfixes. If you call Microsoft and you need a hotfix to resolve your issue this will not cost you.

Hey Guys:

Sorry for the long delay. For some reason I wasn't getting email notifications. Anyway I have Exchange Server 2000 (SP1) and Outlook 2000. THe Exchange server is part of SBS 2000.

If you may know the cause, please let me know,

Thanks

Jocasio:

Just curious,

What antivirus are you using? I was having a similar issue with my clients and Symantec Corporate Antivirus.

We're using TrendMicro Client/Server/Messaging Suite for SMB...

JO,

Oh well, sorry. It is probably not the same issue but My problem was with the outlook addin that SAV installed. I had to go into the user's profile dir under

Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook

and delete the Extend.dat file. The next time Outlook started it re-created the file and the problem went away. This issue came about from upgrading the SAV client so the old plugin was deleted and the location of the new one changed.
