I did a search looking for my problem with no results.

Problem:
Scenario 1: I want to send an e-mail and attach something to it, when the attachment requester opens I need to change folder to the location were the attachment is located. The moment I click on the down arrow, Outlook hangs and it is very difficult to kill it.

Scenario 2: I receive a e-mail with an attachment and want to save it, I need to change folder to where I want to put the attachment, Once I click the down arrow, Outlook will hang

In both case I can send the attachment or save it as long as I do not try to change folders.

Can any one help?

Office Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5606)
PC: Windoss XP Pro.

Thanks

Joe

I did allow Outlook to attempt to repair itself. I even had to find the original Office CD and put it in. It run for several minutes then claim everything was fixed.

Thanks for taking the time to write an answer

Try deleting the outcmd.dat file. It is generaly found in the Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook folder. you can search for it and then delete any instance of it.

It is usually attributed to slow opening or closing of Outlook, but can cause issue like you are having.

When you reopen Outlook it will recreate the file, but you may have to reset your toolbar options.

Everything will be OK in the end.
If it's not OK, then it's not the end

Are there any network or local drives that are not available, but still listed? if so disable these...

Also, make sure that the PATH variable does not contain any references to any networkpaths that no longer exist!
