Outlook freezing up

I have just set up my outlook to receive email and the first time I set it up, I was receiving email without a problem. But now when I load up outlook i can't read my mail and then it goes into (not responding). I also want to mention that I have it checking for mail on loading outlook and i also had it set up with a Palm so that my appointments come up when you load outlook. does any one know of a fix for this?

you more than likely have a corrupt inbox or outbox. follow steps to reset them.

I'd love to follow steps, which steps. How do I "reset" the inbox/outbox? I'm thinking of doing a clean re-install. If I do it this way can I export all of my information stored ie. Contacts, Calendar events?

OK, I stopped using outlook for a moment because i still couldn't fix it. But now it's really annoying. Everytime I close outlook, it send that it had an error so it's going to close it then sends an error report and re-opens itself. has anyone noticed this?
