Quick question - I have a mailbox with an inbox and about 30 different folders sitting underneath it. I want to share out all of the folders and contents to 7 users. At the moment, it looks like I have to change the permissions for each folder one by one. If I change the permission for the inbox it doesn't seem to propergate down into all the subfolders. Surely there is an easier way than editing each folder and adding in the same 7 people.

Any ideas - Microsoft (as expected) are useless.

Hi snakeeyes1978,
You could give full access to the mailbox via Exchange, but this would let all the users access Inbox, Calendar, Contacts etc. as send emails as well.

That's ridiculous. I can't believe Microsoft don't have a checkbox to allow subfolders to inherit the permissions.

Thanks tho.

You could have a look at the delegates option we use this at work Outlook 2003 and exchange server 2003. I think the restriction is that using this they can send as the account though. Either way you still have to set this up by adding each person in unless you have a distribution group setup and can add the group in etc.

Actually permission for sub folders ARE propagated down....if they are created AFTERWARDS. But existing sub folders are not.

It makes sense....sort of. Existing folders require explicit permission, as it is a huge assumption that because one folder now has permission that everything under it does as well. However, if a folder DOES have permission, it is a smaller assumption that if you create a new folder, you are aware of the permission...and it will propagate down.

It....sort of, makes sense....kinda.

However, you are totally correct - there should be a checkbox that you can use to explicitly propagate subfolder permission.
