User gets message "The Password You Typed is Incorrect" logging on to Outlook Express. Error appears to be logging onto Outlook Express and not accessing POP server. Same error happened a few days ago to same user and then it started working ok for a few days. Password has not been changed. Any way to verify Outlook Express password or turn off password required or reset password.

Redo the password .

Select the Tools menu.

Select Accounts.

Highlight your account, in most cases this is called pop3. and click the Properties button.

Click onto the Servers tab.

Redo password .

Put a tick into the Remember Password box.

Click OK, then Close and restart Outlook Express.

This problem is with the Outlook Express password not the pop3 password. The user is able to access her email through webmail access but unable to log onto Outlook Express.

If you've set a password on the identity and forgot it, the best i can suggest is to create a new identity and import the DBX files.

otherwise when the dialog box comes up to select an account hit manage identities. try entering the password there.
and if successfull try removing the password. if you still can't get into it. just go with option one.

more then likely the user has had capslock on when entering the password.

When you login into a web site with user name and password, you sometimes have the option to store the password
in your computer. If you choose to save the password, in the next time that we'll visit this site, the password field will be automatically filled with your password, but you won't be able to view it, because the password-box shows the password as sequence of asterisks (****). This utility reveals the passwords stored behind the asterisks in the web pages of Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. You can use it for recovering a lost web site password, if it's stored on your computer.

Problem resolved. Deleted the identity through Regedit. Created new identity within OE and copied DBX files from old identity to new identity. No data lost and user back using OE.
