Here is my scenario:

I use outlook express 5:0 I recently decided to re-format the hard drive. Before doing so, I copied a particular folder of e-mails onto a zip disc (cos it was 6 meg). I found this file in windows/application data/identities.

Having now reformatted the hard drive I want to read (not retrieve) the file that I copied onto disk. When I double click onto the file with an extension showing .DBX, windows asks to open with what. I have tried everything and CANNOT get anything other that distorted text. (Googly guck).

Do I need a program to open a DBX file? - If so, can anyone please suggest. I await any suggestions and in the meantime will continue to tear my hair out.

Thank you -- Mel.

You need to install Outlook Express to be able to read .DBX files.
Is it Happy Hour yet?

Thank you Beerhunter - perhaps you did not see the very first line of my question saying that I use outlook express. I have obviously installed it!!!
