Sorry if I sound upset, but I think anyone would too if...nevermind! I am sure you know were I'm coming from.

This is the problem, I created a Mail Rule with the word "mailstamp.com" telling Outlook Exp. to delete any messages from the server if they had this word in their body.
After that, I proceeded to email myself (with a web based email service, much like Hotmail), and I emailed myself a message with precisely that word in its body (mailstamp.com), to test the rule. Guess what happenned? Well, the silly message wasn't deleted from the server. It actually came right thru into my inbox!!!! What is the whole point in creating this rules then?!!!!

I'll appreciate any ideas, tips, suggestions, etc

Thanks in advance,

JavierDL

I feel your pain..
However, if I was a M$ lawyer, I would argue that the message rule actually states as follows:

"Apply this rule after the message arrives
Where the message body contains mailstamp.com
Delete it from server"

In other words to check if the body contains the words,
you actually have to download the body from the server first.
(The message cannot be read directly as it sits on the server).
Then it is deleted from the server if appropriate.

This behaviour is by design :-)

Setup the rule on the mailserver.

Problem solved. *Remember.......
If you don't use your head,
your going to have to use your feet.

I just created the rule as you described and sent my self a test message from Hotmail and it deleted the message with mailstamp.com in the body of the message.

Do you have any other rules? If so try repositioning you rule more to the top position and see if it works.

I want to thank you kindly all for your replies, I appreciate your time ; )

I should've known that the message had to be downloaded first in order to find out whether the word is found in its body or not, of course by then it's too late.

I like meintsi idea though, about setting up a rule right at the mail server level, I'll look into that.

If I have more rules? (joegz), I only have 2 so far. Instead of creating a rule per message, what I am doing in order to keep it organized and compact I have created a rule per area, for instance, a rule for "Body", a rule for the "From line", a rule for the "Subject line", and so forth. Each rule does contain many key words of course.
