To all the gurus who have automated Outlook via another application...

I am looking for a means to get back an Outlook 'receipt' on those emails which were Deleted Unopened.

Yes, I know about Outlook's MailItem ReadReceiptRequested object, but that only tells me that the email has been Read.

I'd like to get a 'receipt' when the email has been Deleted without having been Read.

I know that this can be done somehow since some of my clients have reported seeing a report of this nature, but I am not sure if it is possible with a single Outlook Object or via something in an Exchange server or what.

Any help you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I was fairly certain that receipts would show "deleted without being opened", but I've not messed with them much in a while.

Why not just request a Delivery receipt and a Read receipt? So if you get one and not the other, you know it either hasn't been looked at or its been deleted. More than that, I think you're bordering on too much information from another persons computer.

Firefytr - When we are handling 100's of my client's employees I do not know that I want to get back multiple receipts per email sent from all of these individuals each time we send out something from Corporate that they are SUPPOSED to pay attention to.

And then upon receiving them I would have to look for the presence of one 'receipt' document and not the other?

It is one do-able approach, but it's a LOT of work.

A DeletedUnOpened 'receipt', if it existed, would allow me to zero in on just the employees that the Corporate office wants to focus on.

Unfortunately, just relying on the ReadReceiptRequested does not get everything needed either since if the document never arrives, it cannot be read.

Thanks,

Well, unfortunately there is little we can do about this, as it is more of a policy issue than it is a software [workaround] issue. AFAIAA there are no events we can use (via VBA coding) to do this. Although I would go ask over at slipstick.com where more Outlook gurus hang out.
