I have PIII 450 machine with a new HDD that was reformatted and had a fresh install of W98SE and all updates and Office 97. All worked fine until 2 days ago when I opened Outlook to check my email. I hit F5 as usual and after a few seconds nothing, it just hung. I closed it via Task Manager, reopened it, hit F5 again same thing. I checked it again yesterday and again today with same results. Can someone tell me what caused this and how to fix it? Thanks.

Try to open it again and then take a look at your event viewer for errors with Outlook. What type of network are you on or is this a home computer? First thing I would do is get rid of 98 because it is really unsecure and 97 because it is outdated and they are no longer supported software. Plus you may consider upgrading your machine.
