Last week, I had trouble with my email. I could not connect to the server and could not send or receive email. I contacted out ISP, and the problem seemed to be resolved, except I found out I cannot send email through Outlook. I can receive email fine, but I cannot send. If I go onto our ISP webmail, I can send and receive OK, so the problem seems to be Outlook. I contacted our ISP again, and verified that my settings are correct. I have tried "Repair", and computer has been rebooted several times without success. Any suggestions? I'm not sure I want to uninstall and reinstall, but I will if I have to.

Hi,

did you have trouble with your eMail prior to last week?

No, everything worked fine one day, broken the next with no changes made to the system.

I had the same problem about a month ago, except that I use G-mail and POP. When I logged into G-mail though the web and went into the settings for POP/IMAP I found that both were checked. When I unchecked IMAP I could send mail again through Outlook.

I have no idea how IMAP got checked. I even had to go to G-mail help to find out where to look as I'd set up my account 7 years ago and never changed it. On checking some of my other accounts, none of which I d/l through Outlook I found one other G-mail account with IMAP checked. I wondered at the time if it was a new type of "hack" where the hackers used IMAP to intercept the e-mail. If I'd been using webmail exclusively, I'd never had known. As a precaution I changed all my passwords.

Hope this helps.

Another idea is to try a different email account. Try setting one up at Gmail or another free email client that supports POP, and test that way.

Also, you may find different instructions online for Outlook/POP and your ISP if look online.
