My question may be fairly simple but if you want to make your Exchange OWA secure using SSL, is it REQUIRED that you create a certificate to enable SSL? Thank You

Yes, it is required. You can create your own or get one from Verisign or Thawte... I recommend getting one from them vs making your own as you have to distribute your own.

We use Thawte - 2 years for about 200.00 - which isn't bad.

You want to make sure the "common name" = the name of your website for OWA or you will get security pop ups

SSL is only required when using forms based authentication in OWA. That said, I wouldn't run it any other way.

Actually, SSL is required whenever you need to encrypt your communication. You don't need to be running forms based authentication to employ SSL within OWA.

I bought a certificate from ssl.com, it is used for OWA with forms based authentication, but I am setting up a virtual POP3 server as well, can I use the same certificate on both or do I have to get another for POP3 remote access?
