OK, so I have a service account which runs O2K3 on a server and acts as the mail client for an application. The application sends the mail via SMTP but any user reponses are received in this mailbox.

Mail can be sent and received without issue.

Here's my problem. From time to time the mailbox will receive an undeliverable message from "system administrator". I really need to be notified of these ASAP so I have attempted to setup a rule to redirect them to MY address. No dice. I've also tried forwarding. No dice. I've even tried the "run a script" option. No dice. I can perform any other action on these mails (delete, move to folder, flag, etc) but none of the "send actions" seem to work.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Let me know if you need more info.

My email address (the one I am trying to forward the bounce to) is internal. Yes, I am using Exchange.

For those that care....I've WORKED AROUND this problem by creating a VBscript to send an SMTP email to me when a message is received which contains UNDELIVERABLE in the message subject or body.

Apparently redirection/forwarding rules WILL NOT work for these NDR messages. Which is weird/stupid. You would think that it would be all rules or none...not just some.

Oh well, this works for me as I am at least alerted that a message bounced back (even though I will have to go check on the details).
