They just upgraded my Outlook to 2003. I have a number of folders created under my Inbox , and I have a rules created that forward mail from the inbox to these folders. Since upgrading, i'm not receiving notifications when I receive mail and is sent to these folders. I only receive notification if the mail is in the Inbox itself, whereas in the prior version of outlook, I did receive notifications. In the advanced e-mail options I do have all the options checked. Is this a new feature in 2003, or do I need to configure something else.

Thanks

OK - 2 places to check.
1. Tools>Options>Preferences>Email Options>Advanced Email Options>Desktop Alert Settings.

Check to see about the length and transparency of the alert. If it is set to 3 seconds(minimum) and transparecy set really high, like 80% (maximum) you may not even notice it.

2. Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options>Reminder Options. Make sure that Display reminder and Play reminder sound are checked.

Hope this helps.

Tom

These were set up properly. I get notified if the message is directly in the Inbox, but not if it's sent by a rule to a folder under the Inbox.

Perhaps this will work for you.

Edit the rule to add the action "Display a specific message in the New Item Alert window".

Test to be sure, but doing this might have made the entire rule work only if Outlook is running.

If that is the case, simply edit the rule back like it was, and add a second rule that displays the message in the New Item Alert window.

I have a similar problem with notifications in Outlook 2003 - except that I don't seem to be getting them at all, even for messages that go straight into my inbox.

Well that's not exactly true. If I send a test message to myself it arrives, the envelope appears in the system tray and I get a 7-second pop-up message. But anything else, from anybody else, and nothing!

I've checked all my settings and they're correct.

I'm Using Windows XP Pro (SP1) and MS Office 2003 (SP2).

Can anyone help please?

John
