outlook 2003 issues

any help as always greatly appreciated

have a off2k3 sp2 installed on xp (all relevant updates from ms update site installed).

when the e-mail alert pops up and the user attempts to open the mail by clicking on it the screen switches to outlook but the mail does not open and error message saying "could not open the item. please try again" - opening from outlook works fine.

Also when attempting to dismiss a reminder get error saying "cannot turn off the reminder. you may be reminded again. could not complete the operation. one or more parameter valus may be invalid". while the reminder disappears it does stay in a list of reminders after a reboot - therfore nothing has been dismissed !

attempted a reinstall of office but still the same.

sorry for long winded explanation but complete info may solve issue !

Go to the Help Menu (in Outlook) and run the Detect and Repair option.
