I have downloaded all of the patches and fixes Microsoft has, and the software will still hang. I have several people in the organization that are using the same software, and they all have the same issues. It happens on XPSP1a ("WILL NOT", not "cannot", update to SP2!) and 2KSP4. I have even gone so far as to format the PC, and re-install from the ground up - same result - and that result is, the app closes as far as the user is concerned, but remains running in the background, occupying 99% of the CPU. What up it dat?

If memory serves me correctly, Outlook has had somilar issues since Outlook 2000. Am I right?

Any suggestions?

This sounds like conflicts of some kind. Are you running anti virus? If so, what kind. How about personal firewalls? Any of those running?

I have seen this on my machine, but it's very rare. I just use CTRL-ALT-DEL, go to the task manager, sort by process name, then kill any outlook.exe processes running. You should check to see if you have more than one outlook.exe running as well. This can cause problems too.

Good luck.

Yeah, I can do the CTRL-ALT-DEL trick as well, but when my user calls me, I do not always have time to get to their computer... then they sit there and do nothing because their computer will not work very fast... users, huh? <grin>

Yes, antivirus is Panda Enterprise. No software firewalls - at least there BETTER not be (LOL). I use the same sofware complement on my PC at home - IDENTICAL software complement - (that particular computer belongs to the medical practice I work for and I often telecommute), and it does not happen there. I also use my own personal copy of Panda Platinum, which is the version installed by the Enterprise suite, on my personal PC, also no issue there. I have been through all of the tech tips on Microsoft and Panda, and there is no mention. I thought I might try and see if somebody else has had the issue...
