Outlook 2003 Deleted Items

I have a user who when they delete an item, the deleted items counter increments by one, and a blank email appears in the deleted items folder. When you empty the deleted items, the blanks disappear. The deleted items counter is green, not blue. I'm getting ready to check the registry, but does anyone have any ideas?
