Hi

We have recently started testing Outlook 2003 and have noticed a strange problem.

User "Jon" has a mailbox on Server A in Chicago. When he shuts down Outlook 2003 the notification icon in the system tray saying it is "trying to connect to Server B" the strange thing is that server be is across the WAN in London.

this isn't really causing a problem, except when working remotely as it can take about 15 minutes for this to complete when on a dial up connection.

Anyone know why this is happening ?

cheers

Have you tried to remove and recereate Jon's Outlook profile on that machine.

I saw a similar situation when we migrated to a new server for Exchange and some rpofiles still pointed to the Old Server.

Also, if you are using Cache Mode for Outlook 2003, you might consider this;

1. Edit user mailbox setting
2. Click On "More Settings"
3. Click Advanced Tab
4. "Offline Folder Files Settings"
5. Click "Disable Offline Use"

This worked on some of our users as well.

thank you. Thank fixes the problem.

Don't suppose you know why it's trying to contact the London server ? Jon's account has never been on the London server as is actually part of a different child domain.

Thanks for you help.
