Hi,

I've set up the good old MS PostOffice with MS Outlook on a peer-to-peer LAN. All of the MS Office 2002 and older versions don't have any problem, but 2003 version doesn't work very well. It can receive messages from other PC but cannot send. If I configure Outlook to use MS Word to edit e-mail messages, and when I click on send, it displays an error message saying Word failed to find object. If I don't select the option to use Word as the editor, it displays a similar message saying "Outlook" failed to find object. I've been unable to figure out this problem for a while. Anyone has any suggestion? Thank you very much.

Hi,
OK - so this answer is totally hearsay on my part and a complete guess - but I heard that Outlook 2003 requires an Exchange server to work, and the older embedded mail programs do not carry over.

Hope this helps,

Best,

That is partially true. Outlook 2002/2003 don't include some older mail programs like MS Post Office but having an Exchange server is not a must. The option can be added by modifying the mapisvc.inf file, thanks to smah in the following post
So, that I've done but it isn't working for Outlook 2003.

Be sure that you're using the correct version...there are some differences between 2002 & 2003.

Yeah, I did double check that I used the correct installer.
