Outlook 2003 animated gifs not working anymore

Greetings,

I am not sure when it started but I used to be able to use animated clipart in Outlook when sending emails. Previously in draft one could not see the animation but after sending the receipient could.

Well now receipients cannot see any animation. I wonder if some sort of update for security reasons stopped this functionality.
