I'm having trouble with an Outlook 2003 client and it's ability to handle embedded images (from an external link) that are being sent in messages from Lotus Notes clients.

When the Outlook client receives the message from certain Notes senders, the embedded image is moved to an attachment labeled "picxxx.jpg" but will display embedded images fine from other Notes clients in the same office.

A few things: The embedded image is actually a link to an external site where the image is hosted (company logo in the signature block). I've checked the Lotus Notes clients to ensure that they are all sending using the HTML/Plain Text formatting. I've checked the Outlook client to make sure it handles messages using HTML/Plain Text as well and have even disabled the external-image blocker that protects against 'web beacons'.

As with the blocking behavior of Outlook with 'web beacons', the client does not display a place holder with a "Click here to load this image" message... it appears to simply download the external image and then move it to an attachment (picxxx.jpg).

The weird part is that it only does this with messages from certain Notes clients... messages from other clients in the same office appear correctly.

I must be overlooking something... any thoughts?
