Outlook 2002 - sending error

Running Outlook 2002 SP-2 on Windows XP Pro PC's. Several times a day, receive the following error message:

Sending reported error (0x800CCC0F)the connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues contact your server administrator or ISP.

I assume it has something to do with the SMTP server for our internet e-mail. Not sure how to troubleshoot this.
