I have seen various threads about this, but have not come across an answer.
Is Microsoft working on one, or does someone know if there is already a
solution?
I've tried to research this without success, but the following documents the
process I have followed to upgrade my computer, and the result:
system was running Win98 with OfficeXP Pro, with all patches applied.
Outlook 2002 worked fine, with no problems.
Did a clean install of WinXP Pro, starting with formatting hard drive to
NTSF.
Applied all critical updates to get WinXP Pro to most current level.
Installed OfficeXP Pro, and applied all patches to get to most current
level.
Configured email profile in Outlook 2002, with pop3 accounts
(pop6.sympatico.ca / smtp1.sympatico.ca). New messages are received
immediately, with no problems. Messages sent result in delays followed by
the 0x8004210B error message.
By observation, and trying/retrying, send fails 99% of the time.
Surprisingly, once in a while a message manages to get sent.
Configuring Outlook Express to handle email works fine; no problems.
