I've backed up the .pst folders many times - Never had this problem before. Went to backup my Outlook.pst folder today and got the following message:
"Error Copying file or folder
Cannot copy Outlook: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file."

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is there a chance outlook is currently open?

If not, reboot the computer and then try opening it. Outlook may have "grabbed" the file and not let it go.

That's about all I can suggest. Good luck! Let me know if that fixes it.

Thanks!!

Matt

I have found that sometimes (especially if using Word as e-mail editor) Outlook doesn't actually end when you close its main window. Do a Ctrl+Alt+Del and see if an Outlook process is still running.

Enjoy,
Tony

Thanks for the quick replies. I fiqured out what the problem was. A couple of weeks ago I downloaded & installed Copernic Desktop Search which runs in the background. I haven't tried to run an Outlook backup since I did that until today. I have to shut it down before I Backup Outlook.

Thanks again.
