I wonder if someone can help me out here.

I have made a folder called 'Spam', which holds junk mail that is filtered in a send receive. I have a comprehensive set of mail filtering rules that catches out most Spam and directs it to this folder.

What I want to do is have this folder emptied when Outlook is exited. Unfortunately, Outlook only lets you empty the 'Deleted Items' folder on exit. However, this is not an option, as I leave emails in the 'Deleted items' folder which need to remain there for a while.

The other option is to make another folder and direct files I want to keep there, instead of leaving them in the 'deleted items' folder. Then I can auto empty the 'Deleted Items' folder on exit. However, I'd prefer not to do it this way.

Is there any other way to empty a folder immediately on exit, other than the 'deleted items' folder ?

I am sorry but part if this doesn't compute. You are putting email messages in the deleted items that you want to keep? I don't understand why you are doing that to begin with. If it is in that folder it should be, well, deleted. I think Microsoft was thinking the same way I am when they made the deleted items folder. Do you put stuff you want to keep in you trash can at home? I think not.

To answer your question, there is not a way to empty a folder other than the deleted items on exit.

Sorry if I have may sounded a little rude.

Looking for help check the FAQ's first then do a search then ask. Worked for me.

When you delete a message, it is sent to the Deleted Items folder. However, you can choose to permanently delete items and bypass the folder.

I tend to leave messages there for a day or two, until I know I don't need them. Then, I wipe the contents of the folder out. Haven't you ever looked through your trash can at home for something you've mistakenly thrown out?

Anyway I made another folder call 'OLD' which I direct messages I want to keep for a while, and have set 'Deleted Items' to empty on exit.
