I am trying to set a user up with email on a Lan account, and a dial-up account. The problem is that I have to use a different SMTP to check the mail on the dial-up. I set up two accounts 1 lan/1 dial. I set the dial up account to check for messages on the lan, and then dial-up when neccessary. It seemed to work fine on the lan untill today. It would not send mail through the dial up account. Does this sound like maybe a server problem with the dial up account.

Thanks for any input,
Matt

You cannot send mail via a dialup account separately because you cannot choose who to send from on an exchange server PC...

That is why, at home, even though I have multiple email accounts, my Outgoing server is always my ISP. However, with IMO install, I can choose who the email is sending from.

SMTP only sends mail, it doesn't retrieve mail. Anne Troy

Thanks for the post,
Let me clarify. My user has a LP that he travels with. I have his mail set up through outlook(internet mail) on our LAN. I am trying to set him up so that he can check his mail when he is traveling through the ISP we use. The only way for him to send mail through the dial up account is to set the dial-up mail account with the ISP's smtp. When I do this it makes the regular lan account bomb out when sending.

Thanks Again,
Matt

Sorry, Matt. I'm not big on user logins and such, but I did think I've run into this before and don't they create a "docked" and "undocked" choices for opening Outlook? Sorry if I'm not remembering correctly. Been a while since I worked with Outlook users on networks/remote stuff. Anne Troy

Dreamboat,
I believe you are right about the docking, unfortanatly my user does not have a dock station. I appreciate your help.
Matt
