got a machine that has autparchiving set but when you run auto archive it is not deleting any mails in the inbox...I have checked all settings and they are correct...any ideas?

first double-check all your settings (rightclick on the folder in the Outlook folder bar).

If that is OK, and you still expect some (old) mails to be deleted by auto-archiving then check the dates.
Auto-archive only archives mails older than a specified period (e.g. 6 months) and for this check it uses the most recent date out of the set (received, sent, and modified). You can check these dates if you add the appropriate columns to the window which lists all mails.

E.g. I once imported a lot of old mails into Outlook and expected auto-archiving to archive them after the specified period of 6 months w.r.t. the receive date. It turned out that auto-archived only archived them 6 months after I had imported them (which was the modified-date).

the most recent date is today (inbox)...only problem i can see is that he has a laptop and for some reason it cannot sync with the fileserver at present..not sure if this will affect archiving on outlook though
