Problem:
I am running XP Home with Outlook 2000. I have configured Outlook to work offline so that my users can dial in and synchronise with the Exchange server via modem. It works fine in "offline mode" if I use the LAN connection, but it won't synchronize if I use the modem when dialed in to a RAS connection to the PDC. When dialed in, I can ping the server by IP and Hostname, so I know it's not a TCP issue. It seems to be an authentication or PPP problem.

Any ideas???

Jhall0326,

When your user dials in, then opens Outlook, does he get challenged for NT credentials?

Does he get asked if he wants to: "Connect", "Work Offline" and so on?

Remember that exchange will want NT credentials before it will access the email database on the Exchange Server.

Can you give me more info about how XP is setup? Is it a member of the remote Domain?

Is the dial-up configured through the Outlook property sheet, when dialing into RAS?

Does this user have the ability to "Access the Entire Network" on the Domain side?
