Outlook 2000 Send/Receive how can I make it to recieve w/out hitting?

A customer of ours has his outlook set up where he has to hit send/receive all the time. They are not on an exhcange server, instead they have outsourced there network administration to a third party which gives them webspace and email addresses. Can it be set to automatically receive without hitting this, or does it have to stay this way?

I don't think the server should make a difference.

Under Tools > Options > Mail Delivery tab > Mail Account Options section, there is a checkbox and a counter: Check for new messages every n minutes. Is it checked and, if so, is the number of minutes set to something reasonable?
