I am have a very strange problem with my Outlook 2000 program. It is running off a corporate exchange server and my OS is Windows 2000.

The problem is that Outlook does not automatically bring new mail messages into my inbox. It seems to only poll the exchange server for new messages when I either open an email that is currently in my inbox or switch folders. Once I open an email or switch folders it will bring in all of my messages that are on the exchange server, but if I don't do anything they will just sit out there like Outlook has gone to sleep. This only happens to my machine and no one else at my company.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so do they know how to fix it? I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook and it still did not help.

Don't know for sure, but you can give this a try.

Your profile could be kaput. Leave your current profile as it is, then build a new on. Open Outlook as your "old" profile, then go to TOOLS>>OPTIONS>>Mail Services. Select "Prompt for profile to be used". Click OK, and then exit Outlook. When you restart Outlook you can select your new profile.

in my verion of outlook 2000 i found that if you go to "tools" then "options" click on the "mail delivery" tab there will be an option to check messages every.... if this is not checked it will not automaticly check for them until you send or click send/recieve. does that help?
