When I open Outlook 2000 i receive the error "Unable
to open your default folder. The information store could not be opened." it then asks if i want to continue and open Outlook with my default file structure. if i click no Outlook will close, if i click yes Outlook will open with a view of my local / mapped drives.

i believe i need to reconfigure my email server settings (workgroup or internet only) but tools\options is grayed out.

to no avail i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling in the hope that Outlook would re-ask what type of configuration i want.

any suggestions

One suggestion:

This message usually appears if your Windows account has been locked/disabled. Check to make sure that your userID is not locked.

i failed to mention this problem is on a PC running Windows 98... so there's no real Windows account to speak of.

While at the desktop right click on the Outlook icon and choose properties (the last choice) From there you will be able to resetup your accounts.

it was that simple... unfortunately my company is only using OE as its main email client so i wouldn't think to configure the Exchange location through the icon's properties

thank you gg! you are truly a lifesaver
