Outcalling is driving me up a wall

I know I saw it or heard it somewhere that end users can go into their mailbox and do a *07 to change their outcalling status.

I just tried it and it is not there. I did the default start points and all that. There was also an outcalling tab when you right click on the user in the VM pro client, and you can turn that on and put a number in. THEN you do not have to put (in manager programming) the P9+number.

Tested it and it still notified without the number as a source. But WHERE in heaven's name does an end user change their outcalling number and/ or status. I have looked and read everywhere and cannot find it.

Please help me not lose my mind any more than it is already gone.

Thank you
Melissa

Ok, found *07 is new for Embedded
But where in VM Pro mailboxes can END USERS change their outcalling settings? Can't find that in the Knowledge Base

MRoberts

You can do this with phonemanager or a personal configuration action i think.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You never need the P. The P was for VM callback which isn't used now that we have outcalling (callback and outcalling are two different features). You also don't use the Callback start point.

With 7.0 VM Pro, how does an end user set up outcalling (remote message notification to a cell phone).

New with 7.0 they have the *07 to set it up. What is it with VM Pro, now that we don't have to do default start points or the source numbers?

MRoberts

Pnnnnnn is the Voicemail Pro's Callback feature, which is different from Outcalling.

*07 is to access the Outcalling options in embedded voicemail, not Voicemail Pro.

Read the IP Office Intuity Mode Mailbox User Guide (where Outcalling is 6 after accessing the mailbox). Having read it you'll understand that setting outcalling through the mailbox prompts is close to impossible and best done through a user app such as Phone Manager or if you're the admin just use the VMPro client and right click on the user and select Mailbox properties which will show you the users outcalling settings).

I know that *07 is for Embedded that is what I said the second post down on this thread. And I am not doing INTUITY. I am doing regular VM Pro, IP Office Standard edition. Surely if with 7.0 they made it easy with Embedded, vm pro shouldn't be so hard.

MRoberts

it sounds like you are in fact doing intuity. that is the default mode VM Pro runs in. like above log into the Mailbox and go under option 6(hidden)

Its easy in embedded voicemail as there are really only three options: on, off and the destination number. [yes pedants, there is a 4th control but who uses it]

ok, but not what I am working on..... vm pro...6 goes to forwarding options....anyone, anyone? End user outcalling administration???

If 6 = Forwarding then you Voicemail Pro is set to IP Office mode rather than Intuity mode.

When a site wants outcalling, we force them to buy at least one seat of PhoneManager Pro - it makes outcalling config VERY VERY easy! Then have the system administrator configure it.

Mforrence, no need for phonemanager pro when the sysadmin must do it.
He or she can use the vmpro client to do that.

tlpeter: so that is the only way to do it in regular standard (NOT INTUITY, NOT EMBEDDED)?

We have to set the phone numbers to be called in the Client program? I found where to do that but am disappointed that they couldn't find an easier solution than having us come out for a service call everytime there are cell phone number changes.

That's what remote access is for :)

Yeah, that is very true BUT most of my customers don't want us to have that kind of access to their networks. I guess if they don't want to pay for a service call, either I train them on how to do it themselves (shudder) or I come out. Their choice.

Thanks
