I just had 100 people move into my office with only 1 PRI line...and they do heavy faxing. I have Intuity Audix, the latest release, and I'm wondering if I can somehow route my outbound faxes through the system, kind of like the incoming Guaranteed Fax. Here's the scenario:

I have 15 physical fax machines, each with their own DID numbers. Since I only have 1 PRI with 23 available channels, I'd like to free up some room for voice calls by routing all the outbound faxes to some sort of Intuity Audix mailbox, which will queue the faxes up and deliver them using only a few ports.

Any takers?

Thanks,
Josh

Josh, I think I understand what you are trying to do here as it is somewhat similar to what I just did this week.

Display the PRI trunk and print all the pages so you know exactly how it is setup.

Next, go to the bottom and delete say 6 channels, ie. delete the ports, ie. A0520, A0521, A0522 etc...

So now, that PRI trunk has 23 minus 6 channels.

Now, do an "add trunk" look at you rprint out and duplicate all your settings. Now, where you get to the part where you enter the port numbers, enter all the ones that you removed from the other trunk.

So now you have a trunk with 6 channels that just sits there and does nothing untill you start telling something to use it.

You want your fax machines only to use this right?

Make the fax machines use that newly created trunk by modifying the COR on the trunk or on the fax machines.

That should do it for yah!

I use Qwest which does personal access code dialing where users have to enter a pin to place a long distance call. Well, this is havoc on fax machines b/c obviously they cant enter PIN numbers. So what I did was have Qwest take the last 6 channels of the T1 and remove PIN number requirements on those 6 channels. So I made a new trunk with those 6 channels and I force the fax machines to use that trunk only.

Hope that makes sense!

If you need more help just ask.

Cannabis,

That sounds like a great idea to limit the faxes and free up voice lines for the rest of the people. However, doesn't this mean that once there are 6 faxes going out at once, the rest get fast busy signals? I'd really like to store those outbound faxes in an Audix box and let audix send them when a line becomes available.
For some reason I think the physical fax machines are not automatically redialing every 2 minutes like they're supposded to when they get the fast busy (no line available)...maybe that's an issue as well?

Thanks for your help, I'm going to try it right now and set it to only 2 ports for testing purposes.

OK, I created a new trunk group with 6 ports in it...now what part of the COR do I modify to associate a particular station with the group?

Confused...and tired...

Thanks!
Josh

I believe you would do that by creating a new Partition Group. And then with that partition group it would use a route that only uses that trunk group.

I would have to read up routing. If I get some free time today I will try to giv eyou more detail.
