Hi Folks,

we have a Definity G3 SI 9.5. It has a BRI trunk and it is connected to the internal S0 BRI trunk of our Alcatel 4400 using P2PT S0. When placing external calls from the Definity to the PSTN, the calls are routed via the Alcatel 4400 to the PSTN.

On the Definity we have some 6408D+ phone sets and some analogue sets. There are 3-digit and 4-digit extensions that have the format -1xx, 1xxx and -3xx. E.g.:
-111
-312

Now my problem:
When placing internal calls from the Definity to the Definity or to the Alcatel 4400, the number of the calling device is shown up correctly. But when placing calls from the Definity to the PSTN from a -1xx or -1xxx device, the Definity does not send any calling device number information.

E.g.:

Internal calls from the Definity to the Definity
from -312 to -111: callingDevice "312" transmitted, OK
from -111 to -312: callingDevice "111" transmitted, OK

Internal calls from the Definity to the Alcatel 4400 (811- is the prefix for placing internal calls from the Definity to the Alcatel 4400, 806- is the internal prefix for the Definity):
from -312 to 811-410: callingDevice "806-312" transmitted, OK.
from -111 to 811-410: callingDevice "806-111" transmitted, OK.

External calls from the Definity to the PSTN via Alcatel 4400 (0- is the prefix for placing external outbound calls):

> from -312 to 0-<any external number>:
callingDevice "+<country-City-pbx>-312" correctly transmitted, OK.

> from -111 to 0-<any external number>:
callingDevice "+<country-City-pbx>-0" = no extension information transmitted by the Definity, FAIL.

If I change the user extension from -111 to -311, everything is fine. If I change it back to -111, the number again is suppressed. Using a trunk tracing tool at the Alcaltel 4400 I can see that in the failing case the Definity transmits no callingDevice information at all (the IE callingdevice is completely missing).

All devices are activated to send their calling number
(change station, page two, "send calling number").

I have no idea, where to search for the required setting.

Many thanks in advance

Kindest regards,
Thilo

Enter this command:

change isdn public-unknown-numbering

Check for entries for the stations that start with a 1.

You probably need to update the table to include the number of the calling stations that start with a 1.

You'll probably find some for the stations that start with a 3.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)
