OUT OF OFFICE ASSISTANT

WE HAVE OFFICE 2000, AND USE MICROSOFT MAIL. I READ IN THE HELP MENU THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN OUT OF OFFICE ASSISTANT IN THE TOOLS MENU.
I DON'T HAVE IT AND I CAN'T FIND IT ON THE OFFICE CD.
DOES ANY ONE KNOW OFF SOMETHING THAT WILL REPLY BACK TO THE SENDER OF AN EMAIL WITH A MESSAGE SAYING THAT , "WHOEVER IS OUT OF THE OFFICE AND WILL BE RETURNING AT SUCH AND SUCH DATE. "

If you installed your Outlook completely it should be there under tools. If not, I would reinstall Outlook choosing Custom for the install and then you can pick and choose what you want installed.

Can you only use the out of office assistant is you are using Exchange?

Sorry, but the "Out of Office Assistant" is only available if you are using Microsoft Exchange.
