Hello All,

I need to hook up a MSSQL server to an existing oracle921 database.
But, with all the ODBC things involved, I can no longer see the wood through the trees.

I understand that I need to configure Oracle HS.
My question: oracle HS doesn't talk directly to the MSSQL server right ?
It needs an intermediate ODBC driver to which Oracle HS talks, and then in turn that ODBC driver will talk to MSSQL yes ?

so I need to install unixodbc & on top of that an odbc driver for solaris to talk to MSSQL.

Am I correct in presuming this ?
If so, do I need a specific MSSQL odbc driver or is a generic driver sufficient ?

Thanks for -any- help on this :)

Iga

Hello All,

This might be usefull for someone with the same problem:
(btw, this is on a solaris9 server)

install unixodbc
install freeTDS
tell odbcinst the driver & dns information (from template)
setup oracle HS
create db link in oracle

rejoice!

Cheers,
Iga
