Hello,
Can anyone who ever use the Oracle Data Migration Utility Wizard kindly advise me how I can use it properly on an NT 4.0 server box when migration from earlier versions of Oracle to the later versions?

I have tried using it to migrate Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.1.5 and from Oracle 8.1.6 to Oracle 8.1.7 and none of these stages work. I submitted my questions to Oracle forums and was told to use the IMP/EXP utility. But, I need to know how to use it using the Oracle Data Migration Assitant. Oracle specialist told me to send this message in Microsoft forum to see if anyone can help. Even Oracle themselves could not provide a workable solution. I have tried using their documentation but still fails. Everyone I talk to said to use the exp/imp utility.

I am sure someone out there has ever use the Data Migration Assistant and got it working.

Can this person please help?

Thanks

I've tried using the migration assistant as well (although it was on a unix tru64 system), and it never worked properly...I ended up having to use the mig utility manually (doing all the things that the utility is supposed to do by hand). It really wasn't all that bad.
I have also upgraded my NT 4.0 schema manually.

I printed out doc # A86632-01 and it had all the goodies needed to get it done.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I wonder who had ever done it and had it work!

You may want to try SQLPorter from realsoftstudio.com

They currently provide migration tools that are proven to work very nicely accross different databases.

you can see them at

We have done migration from oracle 8i through 9i to microsoft SQL Server.

The Migration module for Oracle 7 or 8 to newer version such as 9i are currently in beta 2 and should be released within the next 30 days.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
