I have a AIX system running AIX 5.1 in 32-bit mode on 32-bit hardware. I have a user who is saying that an installation of Oracle 9.2.0.7 client use to work and now does not. All my research has shown that the Oracle 9i can not work on 32-bit hardware. In the release notes it says under section 1.4 "Both 32-bit and 64-bit kernels are supported, but only 64-bit processors are supported for this release". So I would figure that it couldn’t of ever worked on 32-bit hardware.
But in the Product Availability - Platform Notes it states "Starting with Oracle9i, the Server is always in 64-bit mode and ships with both a 32-bit and 64-bit Client Libraries.". Does this mean that the client is able to run on 32-bit hardware, just not the server?
I tried install the client via the OUI, but I wasn't able to get it to work. If the client is able to run on 32-bit hardware is there something else I have to do to get it working.
Thanks in advance
Joe
