Hello

I am trying to install 9i on Win98 and upon installation it requests a sim name and password, to date none have been set up. All given default passwords have come up false.

Upon trying to start SQL*Plus a request is made for username, password and host. Again all defaults have drawn a blank.

Can anyone else help??

Thanks in advance

Here is what you can do:

1. Login as local Administrator
2. Create local ORA_DBA group
3. Create local user and make him member of local Administrator and ORA_DBA groups.
3. Logout
4. Login as the new user
5. Now you should be able to install Oracle 9i.

To login later on do this:

1. Create new db (let's say SID=db1)
2. c:\>set oracle_sid=db1
3. c:\>sqlplus /nolog
4. SQL>connect / as sysdba

Hope that helps,
