Oracle 9 client installation error on Windows

Hi,

Because of DTS, I have just uninstalled and reinstalled the Oracle client from v9 to v9.2.

However, I am getting the below error

The description for Event ID ( 5376 ) in Source ( PMT_DataServiceLib ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: [System.Data.OracleClient] clsReportRequests:SecurityLookupbyIVType Could not create an environment: OCIEnvCreate returned -1..

I have changed the permissions on the oracle home directory, has anyone come across this before?

Judging from the results of a Google search on this error, you are on the right track. It's most likely a permissions problem on the Oracle home directory. When I've had similar errors in the past, I've been able to correct them by resetting the permissions on "Authenticated Users" on the Oracle home directory. However, the fix didn't work unless I also went into Advanced Security Settings and checked the two boxes "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects." and "Replace permission entries on all child objects with enttries shown here that apply to child objects."

Is that what you did?
