Oracle 8.1.5 on NT going slowly 1

I have a slow database, seemingly caused by the system tablespace being analysed.

Is there a way of testing this and fixing it?

Run analyse with DELETE STATISTICS - this will clear all the stats (look at the SQL manual for more detail)

Run analyze on a regular basis, so the stats don't age
