Hi!

I am very new to Oracle.

I have installed Oracle 8i in my PC which is having Windows NT 4.0. After installing it the SQL Plus was running fine.
After that I have tried to Oracle Developer 2000 in it. After it got installed I have rebooted the PC & found the following error while using SQL Plus:

ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

How can I solve this issue? Can anybody help me out at the earliest.

My Global database name is oracledb, SID is oracledb.

Pl let me know in details.

Thanks in advance.

Installing Developer after 8i can cause many problems but probably the most likely is that the tnsnames.ora file now being used is the one in the developer home..Be sure it has the same entries as the one in the 8i home..( You did, as required, use different homes, right?)
