ORA - 1004

Hi,
We have a perl program which uses oraperl to login to one of the databases. We get the error ORA-1004 - default username/password logon denied. That particular database has been upgraded to 9i. When we try to connect from sqlplus directly we are able to connect with the same username password. But when it is trying to connect from oraperl, it's giving ora-1004. Except for remote_os_authent parameter, what else should I need to check?..

ORA-01004: default username feature not supported; logon denied
Cause: An attempt was made to use automatic logon on a system not supporting this feature.

Action: Provide the complete username and password to log on to Oracle.
