I tried to install NMS on NT 4.0 Server. After what I thoug was a successful install I tried to discover the network and nothing came back. I moved the server and a 450 switch to their own network and tried again to auto discover and still didn't see anything. I'm sure I have a setting incorrect....any suggestions?

To answer your question: You will need to download and install the OIT files from Nortels site. Make sure you know what code version your switch is and download the file which covers that version. I believe you will also need to download the readme file it is a seperate download. In the readme it will give you file locations and other install info.

The downside is if you have the latest code Nortel my not have an OIT for it. One of the reasons we are not using Optivity at this time.

Good luck!!!

To be honest, I have been using Optivity NMS since it was LattisNet Manager, and I like the new Optivity Switch Manager better personally. Downside to that is it only shows Nortel gear, (back as far as 2814s and 3000s) and only has GUI expanded Views for current products. OSM only shows you what the switches believe not what you believe, and I like that. It is clearly a version 1 product and is best for nets with under 100 switches but give it a chance The one thing you can't give for your heart's desire is your heart. - Lois McMaster Bujold

JOHNJOHN,

What directory do the OIT files go into on the Optivity Server?

Did you create a Seed file? You must specify a starting router, a starting subnet and a ending subnet.

I was never able to get autotop to work. Spent hours with Nortel. I think the whole program is junk.

The OIT's will include an install script (batch file) or a readme file to show you what needs to be copied. You also need to shut down all the daemons running before doing an OIT install.

Cheers.
